what do you do when you have to share information with a person that you considered would never benefit from it?

Just share it anyway. The best you can do is share the information, you can't force someone to apply it. At least that way you know you did what was required of you and can rest easy.

Hi, Travis! I'm not quite sure what you're referring to, but if you feel hesitant to share certain information during the job search process you can always ask for an explanation of why that specific information is needed. If they can't offer up a reasonable explanation of why they want that information, don't feel obligated to supply it. Simple as that!
