I enjoyed my time volunteering at the Encino Library. The staff was really kind and helpful. I'm 15, so they do allow teenagers to volunteer as well as adults, and, concerning teens, it's good for getting your hours in. The test was easy for me and I actually surprised the recruiter enough for her to put me on the spot the day it was given to me. It was a calm, quiet environment with occasional rowdy kids, but nothing too serious. As for the work, shelving is putting books in the shelves while router is receiving a list of books to take off of the shelves (for drive-thru pickup and whatnot).
