I would recommend following up on any applications you submit, as well as after interviews. After you have an interview, it can be a great idea to send a thank you note to the person you interviewed with - either a hand-written one or an email. And then if you haven't heard anything 1 week after the interview, you can call to followup and see if they have anymore questions for you.
