SCAM: Social Media Evaluator
Hi Jobcasers!
Today I received an email from a company looking for a "Social Media Evaluator." The position is work at home, work one hour a day, seven days a week and it pays $13.75 an hour. It looks like "grunt work" but I thought maybe making a few dollars while I'm looking for a F/T would be helpful.
I spoke to a recruiter this morning who called from a phone with a blocked number. She told me that this project was to start on Friday so was I available? She also said that all details and tasks would be forthcoming once I sign up.
Then I asked about being paid. Will I be a W-2 employee, will do you direct deposit, etc? She replied that they would need my banking information and payroll is made via wire transfer.
At that point, I said, "No, I don't think so" and hung up. If anyone says they pay or send funds via wire transfer, it's a scam because wire transfer funds can go both ways: into your account and OUT of your account. I'm sure on Friday I would have an empty checking account.

Beware!

Whoah, no way! That's an awesome turn of events - keep in touch with how it goes!

Thanks for the heads-up, Jim!! Anyone who asks for your banking info - without ever having a face-to-face interview with you - is a NO GO in my book. Better to be safe than sorry!
Hi Jim! Thanks for the update! I bet it went better than you think, we are all our worst critics after all. Sounds like you're in motion towards something, it's only a matter of time until you get there. We're all pulling for you!
