Job Search

Hi! I was relocated here in March of this year and then was laid off 2 weeks ago. I received no severance, no healthcare and cannot receive unemployment. (TX laws are that you have to have worked here for 6 months). I am beyond devastated. I have been in a Senior Technical Recruiter role for 23 years. I would welcome any advice. Sincerely, Shirley

Shirley: I had this happen to me My advice would be to start networking, call the career center in TX ask them about job forums group. Call the chamber of commerce and ask them for possible contacts. Call other places like Tek Systems, Aerotek, Booz Allen, Etc. This is a dirty blow, but the thing they can;t take from you is your willingness to get another job and become successfull.

Come check out Wa. State, companies are desperate for people right now, with 23 years experience you should be able to get a decent job.

If you don't qualify in TX, you still may be able to collect in your previous state. I would definitely call, and/or apply anyway. Also, I did a quick search for recruiting under the job and companies link on here and quite a few jobs showed up. Take a look and see. Good luck!

Hi Shirley Vincent I am so sorry to hear this. Are you sure? Have you applied just in case? You can do so and find out more info [here] (https://twc.texas.gov/jobseekers/applying-unemployment-benefits). I would begin applying for jobs asap and update your resume if needed. I also would apply for the benefits or consider reaching out to someone. There is a phone number you can call right on their site. Wishing you the best!
