Congrats on the interview Deborah!! I've done multiple phone interviews and information follow-ups over the last 2 months so I have some tips I can share with you based on these recent experiences. Set aside time in a quiet place where you can talk without being interrupted by background noise or other people in the area.
Get comfortable but don't take the call in your PJ's
Do your research before the call.. don't rely on the computer to search for responses to questions during the interview.
Listen carefully to each questions and provide a descriptive but relatively short response.
Write down your questions and have them ready before the call.
Remember to SMILE!! This one is Important..
Prepare a 2min or less statement that describes your education, experience, and career interest (Elevator Pitch).
Get the interviewers contact information and ask about the next step in the hiring process.
Remember that they have your application and resume so they can see your work history and other qualifications. The phone interview is basically to screen you to identify if you have the personality and enthusiasm necessary their looking for in a potential candidate. Hope this helps. Good Luck & let me know how it goes.
