I worked as a Secretary at a medium company (I was the only one in the office 27 yrs. ago) and taught myself how to type, use a computer system, accounting program, Microsoft and became a full fledged bookkeeper. The company grew and had two subsidiary companies within the company so I had to take care of five bank accounts, do three different payrolls and do weekly/quarterly/yearly taxes for all. I was there for 27 years and have not had a raise in 17 (or a bonus in 10) and when I asked for one I was told I was a non essential employee in the company (I worked alone for 27 years). So I quit.
Two months later I got a job on the recommendation of a bonding agent and CPA I worked with (who worked with both companies also) as they needed someone in there fast and liked my resume'....lasted six weeks, I wasn't allowed any control of anything so I created work and it freaked her out (I started with the filing system)...she told me she wasn't ready to give up control.
Got a job three weeks ago and first day I was sent to the filing room...It was horrendous (the whole office was stacks of papers everywhere). So I start organizing the filing room along with learning new things along the way, but was always told to go to the filing room and I gave ideas on how this could work better and I created more space and making files (the other filing clerk has been hiding stuff since last year).....I was told Tuesday (by someone who has work there less than I have to just do as you are told). I got the filing done and started on my new work.
I was called after 5 Tuesday when leaving work to be told that I was let go and was told I was not allowed back in the building to get my things or to contact anyone there. I got home and had an email....They said it wasn't going to be a long-term fit. They also mentioned you were focusing a little too much on the filing room when there were additional things they were wanting you to try and do.

Wow, so sorry this happened to you! I'm sorry you haven't been able to find any jobs that are a good fit for you. Let us know if the community can help at all.
Hi fellow jobseeker. I know you feel frustrated and at the end of your patience. But let me tell you what I read from your post. You are a very dedicated person, with a good sense on being a very committed person, you are a person who doesn't do half-of, great sense of organization skills, someone who does way more than just answer a phone, an individual who understands numbers and have the common sense to know how an organized office should look like. Faithful for whomever you work for. You will find the perfect place for you, the perfect fit! Breath... don't let the situation take your peace, and pray, for no prayer would go unanswered, have faith that things in your life will work on your favor. I know so!
