Reverse Age Discrimination
Society expects 16 year olds to stay in school and concentrate on graduating but not all teens live in financially stable homes. I have literally applied to every single job opening and no one's called me back for an interview. I thought it wasa because I'm underage but I see other high school kids getting jobs at the mall, movies, and grocery stores. What am I doing wrong? I send in every application with resume, cover letter, and three references. My volunteer experience is also on my application so what’s the problem? I always go back and ask for the manager but they always tell me they’re not hiring right now. Why advertise the job then! I can’t help feeling discriminated against now being young and a minority. All I'm trying to do is help out my mom pay bills. What else can I do to find a job?
I am 45 and going thru the same thing you are. Its also hard for us "40- somethings" to land a job these days. We got to earn a living, I mean we got to eat too. I have more financial obligations now, than when I was younger and it was easy to get jobs back then and had less responsibilities.

...my sympathies to you, because I had to start working at about de same age to help out me Dad....however, regretted it for 40 yars....I kept plugging away, until I found a job at a car dealership...so you're Not necessarily doing anything Wrong....God knows Exactly where & for who your first job is gonna be....so enjoy de precious Time you have remaining, because you're only Young----ONCE....for de Next 50--60 yars you're gonna have your Nose to de Grindstone ( unless another Blessing comes down the Pike )....
It's great to see you so ambitious. Keep knocking on those doors, Network a and I guarantee you something will come your way.
Could be the cover letter.....unless they actually ask for one, they really don't wanna see it. And maybe you should try checking up on your apps.
from my point on this world, its really about how you want to live this life and how much things your body and mind need to function (are their any lady monks?), due to luxury money shows itself important to that need. we as job searchers and hunters can save alot of energy and power when it comes to a um-employed lifestyle.
