Bank Teller/ Admin

I have recently immigrated with permanent resident status, age 64, Exec MBA in Banking & Finance, 34 years experience as Manager Admin/Teller/ATM (tech)/ Retail Banking still unable to get job offer. I search for ordinary teller's job. What should I do, strategy? mahmoodhbl@live.com

Hi Mahmood: Awesome! Sounds like you're ready to start your job search. Here’s how to use Jobcase to see who’s hiring near you:

  • Double-click the Jobs button at the top of this page
  • Enter the type of job role you're looking for
  • Click the blue search button If you see something that looks interesting, just click View Job and follow the instructions to apply. Let us know how it works out for you!

Hmm, that's a good question. To be honest, I'm not sure. I know ageism is definitely a think, so it might happen with a few employers. But I wouldn't get caught up in the what-ifs. Instead ,focus on applying to jobs that are relevant to your experience, and follow up on all your applications a few days after applying. That way, you're on the hiring manager's radar, which can help you land an interview.

Hi Mahmood: Wow, that's some awesome experience! I have a sneaking suspicion that banks might think you're overqualified for an ordinary teller position. In other words, they might think you'll be bored or constantly looking for something better while you're working as a teller. Why not look for a managerial position that matches your experience?
