Most dispatchers don't like most of their drivers and try too make them look bad with that said if you want to find out if its true watch how they talk about over drivers when you are in dispatch cuz if they talk shit about those driver then their talking shit about you they play games with our jobs if they can make a driver look bad they look good they screw up loads too make us look bad the most dispatchers don't want us to run the way we want to ride they want us to run the way they want us to run that's not how Trucking works

I'd say that depends on the company. One I've been with the last 5 years, all the dispatchers are also drivers and we're all pals. Company I was with before, not so much. You work with people who make a conscious and deliberate effort at being professional or you don't. The problem is not always the dispatcher's attitude, either.

I've been on both sides of the dispatch desk... The dispatchers have people breathing down their necks too. Unreasonable customers, terminal management kissing the ass of said customers. Thats why there is such a high turnover rate for dispatchers. Most end up hating drivers cause there are some prima donna assholes out there in trucks. As long as you're not being forced to do illegal or unsafe things.. Live with it or get another job. And, Yes, I AM a driver now.. With 30 plus yrs experience..

How many hours had you driven without a break. And if given a break, how much time did you get

Most dispatchers just have to get loads covered its gotta be a give n take deal , take some short runs then ask for a long run after it adds up at the end of the week

That's pretty terrible Derek Burton - I had no idea. My uncle is a trucker and he's had some choice words to say about a few dispatchers in his day but all in all they seem to be mostly okay people.

I think you definitely could benefit from a change in companies, as you may find another group of dispatchers more agreeable.

"..watch how they talk about over drivers when you are in dispatch cuz if they talk shit about those driver then their talking shit about you..." that is really good advice for life in general, honestly.

Thanks for sharing, Derek! Let the community know how we can help you in your career!

Wow that's a lot to take in Derek Burton . I am sorry things are tough for you right now. Is there anyone you can speak to? Just remember that you do NOT have to stay where you are unhappy. You could switch your career into something new or even join a different trucking company. No one should be bringing all that negativity into your life.
