No Interviews?? I don't understand, am i too old?
So for 3 months i have been applying for Jobs at least 15-20 per week with no calls or interviews except recruiters who want to put me in different jobs than i am applying for, i am qualified, i have longevity in my previous jobs, i am currently employed (but on a seasonal basis) i have had good success in my jobs, am i just to old? are employers just not looking at me for some reason, i don't get it, any suggestions?

I feel your pain. I was let go June 1st and it has been a pain to find something. As a matter of fact, I only had one in-person interview the whole summer. However, this month has picked up tremendously because (1) hiring managers are back from their family vacations, (2) budgets are coming in and getting evaluated, and (3) depending on your location, more opportunities are coming about for the fall.
Just hang in there, things will turn around. September and October are great for job opportunities, as research has shown.
In any case, here are a few tips, if you don't know them already for job hunting that I've learned recently:
(1) If a recruiter sends you an email with a position not in your area or career path, send them an email of what you actually want and need. Add in your LinkedIn profile to connect with them so that if an opportunity does come around, they'll look to you right away. (2) LinkedIn is a great leads tool. If you find a job you like on there and it includes the job poster, send the job poster an email and apply to the job. Reach out to them through LinkedIn to let them know you are sincerely interested in the job offering. (3) Lastly, apply to companies even if they don't have the job listing you want. Add your resume to their database so that if a job opening ever does open up, you'll be searchable in their database for the position. American Express is one company that always turns to this method before reaching out to recruiters or posting a job listing because they know it saves them money.
I have more tips if you ever need them, feel free to connect with me here or on LinkedIn. ;)

Hi Leroy
Your in what they call "the protected class" please feel free to look it up so don't think of it as your age but what your age offers in experience. Take a week or 2 from job hunting sometimes staffing Agencies can help in this. Good luck.

Pray, ask God to open a door for you to walk into a new job that offers you what you want , and believe that he has given it to you and get up everyday looking for it as if its there already , claiming it .

My husband having the same trouble can't even get a call nothing what r u to do!

Just read the reply about the lady being hr and all.. So you're not looking for desperate workers who do good at their job you'd rather lazy workers who could care less if they get fired or not? That's retarded that's why people can't find a damn job. Yes people are desperate for a job how else is someone to live without money to house or feed them you'd like to see that huh turn someone down because they came in to ask for a job and you'd just love to watch as they get kicked out their house and forced to live in a homeless shelter if theyre lucky. It's not weird for someone to go to a place of employment and ask for a job it shows the employer that the person cares and wants the job and shit for all you know the people applying online that you don't see face to face could be murderers and rapest so wouldn't you rather someone come in and make an impression I for one hate online applications because no one answers them at all no calls and no emails I WALKED into a place that I applied to and told them I applied and BAM now I have a job! Amazing isn't it? So, yes Leroy go in and talk to someone let them know you're qualified tell them about what you've done and what you can do.

Never to old just a number. I'm 55 and can work circles around guys half my age. Stay in shape, and keep your mind active. Your work should speak for itself .most if all stay positive, always positive if you want.it bad enough it'll happen

You will keep the faith. God is just waiting for you right one.

The one thing no one is mentioning in this thread is the HORRIBLE Obama economy. There simply has not been real economic recovery since he has been in office. For the most part, any jobs created have been jjobs that require little or no education, or jobs offering very low pay. Employers know this and they are taking advantage this fact by hiring experienced people who desperately need a job, but offering them a low pay-rate. So if you are experienced, skilled, and have knowledge in a field - it's not your fault. Blame the politicians who burden the economy with laws like Obama care., which, suffocates small businesses like mine. They also write new regulations each day that are administrative-heavy and require HR and financial capital to be wasted on complying with those regulations instead of investing that money and manpower in growing our small businesses. Let's hope that in November we will wake up and elect people into office who will actually give us something different that Obama's job killing policies and laws. I wish you success.

It just may be your resume makes you look old, I recently jazzed mine to make it sound more youthful and I'm 50, I'm an industrial maintenance manager and I have a lot of calls, more than I expected.
I've put my application in at 3 different verizon stores in florence Darlington and sumter and I worked for At@t installed and repaired telephone lines and have 20 yrs of dealing with customers
