Finding Motivation
I see so many people who feel like they'll never find a job and are suffering because they don't feel that they have any options. But you have to help God help you! I know my local Goodwill, local community college and my church have all been indispensable to me and they all offer something amazing for people who are feeling the awful crush to find a job. You can find help almost anywhere and services ranging from free career training, resume prep, to ton of other amazing opportunities that I had no idea about until I started asking, and some of the nicest, most helpful people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Praying and asking God for help is the first step, but only you can take the blessings and support that God has already given you and make something of it.
Remember that finding and keeping a job these days is all about self-development and a willingness to learn/apply new skills, so do everything you can to not only make yourself look good on paper as a potential employee, but also to feel accomplished as a person. Finding a job has been my life for almost a year now, but I've learned that seeing my job search that way is an almost surefire way to introduce more stress and fear into my life. Finding a job important, of course it is, but so is the quality of your life. Finding something that will benefit your job search while also giving you purpose, connections, and hope is probably the best thing you can do while actively searching.
So instead of focusing on just searching for a job, try bettering yourself at the same time. The result will hopefully be a more amazing, compelling, competitive resume or CV than you had before and the proven ability to evolve and adapt your skills and knowledge to a variety of situations. Which is something that employers love to see! Give it a month, a year of volunteering, or taking free classes through your local Goodwill or cheap classes through your local community college, or helping out in some other way through your church or community. It might be just what you need to let go of the helpless, hopeless feelings that being unable to find a steady job can bring! Find a way to turn all that inner turmoil and fear you're feeling right now into something productive, marketable and, perhaps most importantly, long-lasting, that can make you feel proud of yourself regardless of what the future brings.

Amen

This is wonderful advice, Katrina!! This is an excellent way for everyone to keep themselves motivated and learning something new. Thank you for sharing this with all of us!
This is such a great post Katrina! I love that you're encouraging the betterment of ourselves, and you're right about there being so many free resources available to help in this. I definitely encourage everyone to reach out to their local Goodwill and a number of their facilities offer career coaching and help in finding jobs, as well as educational resources, and even clothing for interviews. Best of Luck!
