Angela, it may not be discriminatory it is though bordering harassment sexual harassment at that and yes you should watch for patterns. I've had to deal with employees saying things like that to young girls or ladies they felt threaten by because as they moved up in positions they were accused of using their looks to get promoted. I being a woman and the one in charge had to put my foot down and stop that sort of talk. Looks have nothing to do with your performance at work or in anything you. People often feel the only way they can get ahead is by hurting others. Trying to make them feel as though there is something wrong with being pretty. People don't want to see the real reasons like how smart, that person may be or talented. So you keep striving to be the best you can be at work. Jealousy is an ugly head to show but it's always going to be there.

I think so. And so is being told you have to be bi- lingual. I am but to insist is insulting to me. All other nationalities like my father learned. Even Russian Immigratrants learn what America is an English speaking country. Aside from that. I am sure that being too pretty. Sounds like jealous women in Human Resources. I would take it to the Labor Board in your state. Of course they'll deny it.

My dear, I assume that you aren't a high fashion model and your appearance has nothing to do with your job. This is a major red flag. From an HR perspective it's a potential suit. It is unclear from your post if you are employed at a small company or a large corporation. The fact these insensitive remarks have brought you to tears means that HR needs to get involved. Larger companies have anonymous hot lines where this can be reported. Please do not downplay the serious nature of these remarks. We should never accept insulting behavior; it will continue and escalate. Should this type of bullying continue to affect your mental health I would also suggest availing yourself of your Employer Assistance Plan. I am horrified that this happened to you and I wish you well.

Discrimination;
Yes very much so. I think also it's because I am white. Discrimination for weight, good look's where you live. How you live. The color of my skin should not matter in this day and age. However, it does matter. My age is a reason. I am 51 now. I was given a felony from a so called friend of 15 year's and I have all the above on my shoulder's. No one want's to hire a 51 year old white convicted felon.

Well that's your own fault for being such a babe! Probably a little bit of your mom's too!

Yes it is. I'm a guy. When I was in my 20s I was an avid workout buff and I modeled to pay my college tuition. I've had both men and women as much as tell me I got certain percs because I was 'pretty'.

I’m 42 now Angela and I have been mistreated by women and favored inappropriately by men all my life because common sense and men, women, and children have told me all my life that I’m pretty or beautiful. So Tanya just because we are not employed as supermodels we can be significantly more attractive than some of you and treated absolutely terrible by you jealous females. I have had an extremely difficult time as a child and adolescent growing up throughout school and trying navigating friendships all because I got all the attention from boys and men. Then as an adult women are just as petty and cruel. These issues carried over into my everyday and work life. You just generally get a lot attitude and dirty looks thrown your way, unfairly judged, dismissed, and assumed to be stupid, and sometimes even sabotaged to fail. So all of you who criticized or doubted Angela’s comment must be the ugly girls. Sorry for being so frank. This is my first time ever speaking my mind on this subject and it is something that had made my life difficult and a bit lonely and sad. I’ve never really had any close girlfriends. At least I have 2 loving sisters and an amazing fiancé. If I have made any spelling or grammatical mistakes it’s most like because of auto correct or because this app is not allowing me to scroll all the way back through this comment and proof read the whole thing.

O dear god! I went and still going through harassment at work, I reported to the District manager then to HR. And I have witnesses and they’ve spoken to the manager and the witnesses as well as myself. I’m being moved around from location to location, the manager is still working like nothing happened. I was treat badly by all three parties. HR will not help you at all. And I work for a well know company over 1000 employees we do countless training on harassment discrimination etc etc for what when it’s report the victim get treated like shit. Do to all of this I’m stressing out my anxiety is so overwhelming it even affected my son to see me crying behind all of this. And co workers female or male are just as bad they start looking down on you like you did something wrong. It’s crazy if you ask me. I’ve looked for help outside of my employment I was turned down by a few ppl that could help me but finally one accepted my claim and hopefully I could put an end to this nightmare. My advice to you is keep a log of everything and I’m so sorry you’re going through this horrible nightmare. Best of luck
