terminated

what information or opinions, legally, can a former employer say about you to any potential new employer who calls them? I live in Florida. I was terminated.

I was told they can no longer slander former employee names, they only suppose to verify the dates worked that's all.

I just may be the droid you are looking for.

That's the hard part, you don't really know unless you don't get the job for one reason or another. If you suspect a bad comment, you can follow up with the hiring manager and ask. But again, it would not be to the advantage of your former company to say anything like that.

Ideally you should have 4-6 professional references; former managers, people who have worked with, and make sure they are going to say glowing things about you. Take that list of references with you to every interview and at the end, hand it over to the hiring manager.

Good luck!

Legally, they can only say the date you started and the date you ended. Anything outside of that is ripe for a lawsuit.
