How I started volunteering at #CivilWarReactor
My great grandmother always said her father was a Confederate soldier in the Civil War, so my aunt did some research and found proof she was right. She also contacted the United Daughters Of the Confederacy (UDC for short), and when great grandmother became a member, she was one of the two only known surviving Daughter's of confederate soldiers. My Aunt joined the UDC as well. My grandfather joined the Sons Of Confederate Veterans (SCV for short), So did my father and my self. My little brother being to young to be one of the SCV, became one of the Children of the confederacy; another group that was under the UDC. We drug my mom along for the ride. Actually she took us to meetings. With further research my aunt also found out that on her mothers side there were four great great uncles who were Confederate soldiers. So my grandmother also joined the UDC. We all had heard of the Civil War Reenactments, well these people got all my family involved. We would dress up in Civil War clothing, and participate in wars. I would help carry the injured soldiers off the field. Remember this is all reenactment, non of it was real. We had period camps. Everything people would see had to be a replica of the Civil War. During the reenactment people would be able to walk through your camps. It was fun talking with people, as they learned what it was like during the Civil War.
