Yes, I can't agree more. To be successful in Sales is Product knowledge. Get to know each big ticket item and their functionalities. What makes each one thee best the company has to offer.Dont fabricate anything. Lastly, don't make promises you can't keep. If the new stock comes in 3!weeks, tell the customer 6;weeks. And if it comes early, you're the best. Make sure delivery is nothing less than superb. If you can be there to direct the delivery, then be there. Show them what a finisher you are. Make them feel like they're priority. You took yourself out of the rotation and earned that commission. Sometimes, customers feel like oh they made their money off me and I got a product I don't like. Know your stuff and finish the job, you'll earn the respect of your peers and the owners.

Good luck.

The main skill you will always be using are communication skills. You will need to keep a positive attitude towards not just customers but with your coworkers. Another thing that would be useful are critical thinking skills. This will help you cooperate with customers who need service and are unsure with a product. Lastly, I would recommend organization skills. This would enable you to keep track of everything, with which customers were helped by who and to help remember tasks and other duties.
