My advice to people interested in working at #JEA as a #E&ITechnician ...

RUN AWAY! I was attracted to JEA, because of the security of a pension. However, now our pensions are being taken away and being replaced by 401ks. I suffered kidney failure 3 times, then a stroke and a heart attack, due to working at the Buckman WWTP, in 8.5 yrs I was employed there. After my FMLA ran out, I was terminated, and am still trying to fully recover from my stroke. Since being away from the Buckman facility, my kidney function has risen from <30% to 55-60%. Being around unidentified toxins, pathogens, viruses, Bacteria, mosquitios and parasites and using the UV reactors (which modify the DNA of the organisms they shine the light on- including the employees who work on them) is very damgerous !!! That's why the turn over rate is so high there. I am currently searching for a new job now. One that does not expose me to raw sewage, chemical wastes, UV Radiation, Bacteria, viruses and Parasites.
