Age Discrimination

In the past week I have received phone calls from on-line job agencies (Jobmatch.com and Careeradvisor.com) offering their services in assisting me to find a job. They started the interview by asking what type of work I was interested in and then my salary expectations. Then they asked what year I graduated from high school or received my GED. When I told them 1966 they hung up.

When I tried to contact them, I found my number was blocked and I was told by recording, if I wanted to be placed on their DO NOT CALL list, I needed to press 2. I pressed 2 and received a dial tone.

I didn't get the name of the person from Career Advisor, but agent from Job Match was named Amie, although I'm not sure of the spelling.

I believe both of these agencies have practiced age discrimination. I'm not sure what to do next.

Hi David, I'm sorry to hear you had that experience! That sounds terribly rude. As for what to do next, I'd recommend you continue to focus your efforts on finding a great match to a wonderful company. It's obvious that neither of these companies will help you do that, so I'd disregard them and move on.

I wish I could help you with your question re: age discrimination, but since I'm not attorney, I can't help with that.

Jobcasers (including me) CAN help you navigate your on-line search, so please feel free to fill in your profile, as more info would be helpful in that effort.

Thanks for being part of the community, David! Marijoy
