Hired by Best Buy, but no offer letter. Is it rude to try and call every week?
I got hired by Best Buy two weeks ago, and they said that I'd receive my offer letter and a call discussing my hours the following week. I never got a call, so I called them the next day to ask. They confirmed that I still had the job, just that the hiring manager needed to speak with the store manager for the offer letter/start date, and that I should get it by the next day or the day after.
It's now Monday and I still have no offer letter or start date. Everyone I know who works for a branch of the store is confirming that if they said I got the job, I got the job, and that it can take few weeks to actually start, but I don't even have an official offer letter.
Since I know it's the holiday season and they're probably busy, would it be rude to keep following up every week? I've been told I wasn't forgotten about, but I don't have any confirmation that I have the job other than that the back office manager told me I did. And the three people I interviewed with, including the GM, saying I did. Just wanted to make sure I'm not out of line.

I would go directly to the store location and speak to the managef myself face to face, dressed ready to start that day

I'd keep looking. You might find something better. Why waste time?

Thanks! I actually got my offer letter today! The manager in charge of the hiring documentation had a personal emergency last week. I worried a little too much, haha.

Hi Deborah Crocker - I think you're right on the money by following up every week. Don't do it every day, but call in the middle of the week once a week until they give you an answer on where the offer letter is.
For some more tips and advice on following up, I encourage you to read through this conversation and the links within. It should help and set your mind at ease!!
For now, congratulations on your new role at Best Buy!! By all accounts, you've gotten the job and are just waiting for the letter!! This conversation by Stephanie K probably has the reason you haven't heard back yet within it.
Thanks for sharing this with the community. We are here for you!! Please update us when you hear back from them :)

Hi Deborah Crocker , Congrats on your conditional job offer! No, I don't think your follow up persistence is at all out of line within the current employment sense of urgency in the retail industry. Following up with management during peak season can be tricky so your right to be concerned over the lack of response.
Follow up in person if you have to! Just make sure you don't halt your job offer but continue your aggressive search for official job offers.
Don't go on the defense or be too critical when you make contact with the stores management. Not a good idea to let them see a negative side or let them see you sweat. Approach it like you did when they originally extended the job offer; same excitement.
Let them know that you're still excited about the job opportunity and you're ready to become a valuable asset to the team. Ask if there's any other information needed to finalize the job offer process then let them outline a specific plan to land you in the next orientation class.
Belastruccio Baum has some extensive experience working in the Service industry. I'll tag him on this conversation and ask for his feedback on what can be leading to the delayed response and follow up best practice suggestions with store management during peak season.
Keep us updated on your progress on this one Deborah Crocker . Thanks
