Office Security
Should I lock my computer before going to lunch? I work for a small company that employs 5 other customer support representatives in this department. The company doesn’t have a set employee policy for locking computers and everyone’s real nonchalant about securing their computers whenever they walk away from their workstations. We support customers on a technical level in this area so we don’t process any credit card payments but we do have access to customer address and phone numbers. I don’t want to stand out as the only paranoid employee in the office but isn’t this something I should be concerned about?

Hi Sandra: That's a really great question. I think it's worth locking your computer when you're away from your desk for lunch or at the end of the day. No need to explain to others why you're doing it; it's a person-to-person thing.
Always lock your computer if your going to be away from your work station for an extended time period. Don't take any chances.
