Disgusted!

I have been at my current job since 2010! I started at $7.50 per hour, now up to $10.35! Since our company was merged with another company it has gone down hill! First they cut my hours and took away my health benefits! I had to go on medicaid! Now they have stopped giving breaks and lunches even though I work 8-9 hour shifts! I am 62 and being on my feet for that long without anything to drink is torture!!! I went to HR to complain, I was brought into managers office and basically reprimanded for calling, and as retaliation I was taken off my regular job at customer servce, which I love and waited 4 years to work up to! When I confronted my manager about this retaliation, she just said " Well I was very mad" I am collecting my social security, lost my medicaid, and need this job to survive!!!

I would talk to a lawyer and start planning your retirement cause it sounds like a law suit to me.

u should have gone 2 eeoc...however retaliation would come other way. next time ask God what he wants u 2 do. sometimes God wants us 2 be still.

See a lawyer. Workplace retaliation is against the law. Document everything.

There are federal labor laws! They must give you breaks and lunch depending on how many hours per shift.

Package Handler at Federal Express

Hi Debbie..I am so sorry to know that you are going through this...I am a woman of a certain age as well and I completely understand what you are going through...But here is some information that I think would help you... I think that you should consider seeking legal help for this situation because your rights as an employee have completely been violated. It is against labor laws for a company to miss treat their employees in that manner..It is against labor laws for an employer to not allow the employees to take breaks or lunches...If you are working hours of four or more hours you are entitled to breaks and lunches...No exceptions unless you have waived your rights to take breaks or lunches in cases of heavy work loads or minimum employee staff, other than that you as an employee are entitled to breaks and lunches..So if I were in your situation I would definitely seek out legal counsel because this is a major violation and a potential law suit on your behalf..So I encourage you to write down all of the times you were denied breaks and lunches as well as the reason that your boss/ manager gave you for demoting you from your position...And if you have a health situation that is something that you should also make mention..That's just my opinion because it's been done at my last employer and it became a class action lawsuits against the company and the employees won...so I encourage you to look into this if it's important to you.....Best of luck to you

Want better wages and better treatment? Move to Washington State. The minimum wage here is $11 per hour, you get a 15 minute break every two hours, and a 30-60 minute lunch.
