What does it take to become a Teacher?

First, ask yourself, "Do I like to learn, to research, to read, to be creative, to find new and different approaches to teaching? Do I have great patience and the willingness to understand, work with, and accept that each 'scholar' has their own approach to reaching the goal you've set forth for them? Are you a team player? Will you work well with your colleagues and seek out help when you have questions? Are you able to go to meetings and workshops prepared? Are your communication skills strong, especially when working with parents/guardians? Are you willing to embrace every student for not just their strengths but their weaknesses, as well, while developing modifications for the weaknesses to become strengths and help build their confidence? And most importantly, do you see each student, both traditional and non-traditional, as successful and are you willing to do all you can to help them reach that goal? If you can answer yes to most of these and see yourself as helping others learn, getting your Bachelor's is the next step. Get that degree and then look into specialized areas, ie, reading, math, science, tech, and the grade level(s) that are in need of specialized teachers. But, if a classroom teacher is where you see yourself, go for it. Never stop learning!

It depends. Are you experienced in working with children? Childcare to start? Public School. I started working as an aide and worked to assistant. When I knew this job was for me I went to college at Rasmussen to receive my CDA. My job paid for all of it.
If you already know you could work at a facility get your CDA within the company. They usually pay all or most for Associates degree but bachelor’s would only pay so much but most companies will help you with scholarships. Hope this helps.

Outside of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution (minimum educational qualifications), being proficient in your subject area and having a strong conceptual understanding of the learning standards and the processes required to meet the criteria for success is a must.
Not all schools require teachers to be certified upon hire. However, you want to explore either traditional certification pathways (teacher preparation programs) or alternative certification pathways (fellowships, teach for america, etc) as soon as possible. Your pay will be affected by how many years of experience you have in that field, by your educational experience(s), and by your active license and certifications.
Be sure to create a TEACH account. That is the platform used by the department of education to share information across all school districts regarding the status of your licenses and certifications, professional and criminal background, and of your completed exams and professional workshops.
Another must have is the book “Teach Like a Champion 3.0.” That teaches you the fundamentals of classroom management, techniques, and approaches that are most effective and efficient. And that maximizes student engagement, participation, productivity, and efficiency.

Hello and best wishes on wanting to teach. I believe it takes dedication, patience and a passion for making a difference. With that it takes a Masters Degree (preferably in Education) however your degree can be in something else. For example, English Lit or Psychology or nowadays almost anything. Teaching consists of life learning, in other words it’s not a one and done. More importantly, to become a teacher may vary from state to state. However I recommend you research the field (like what you’re doing now) get a picture of a teachers day at work.

Education is needed to be a Teacher, You must be interested in helping children learn. A Teacher has to be flexible and know alternative ways to deal with behaviors. And Never label children or stereotype.

It used to be a great career. My advice? Don’t do it.
