How can I …...
I’m applying for a Call Center Customer Service Representative job with a national Insurance company that happens to have open job opportunities at two locations in my area. Should I apply for both locations to improve my hiring opportunities or just one location? I can work at either site but I don’t want recruiters to think I can’t make a decision. How can I show flexibility without being perceived as a moot applicant?

Sophia, if either location is okay with you...isay go for them both. If prefer one loc. Over the other I would only submit to that one .

In this case, applying to both locations is a good idea it may increase your chances of being hired. Most companies look for initiative, motivation, and flexibility. The idea of having two applications should stand-out and possibly provide a greater chance of gaining that interview. Who knows the possibilities that can occur from this action. You're letting the company know you have a desire to work where there's a need. You should never limit yourself because opportunities and possibilities await those that present an open mind and multiple application is just that. Good luck on finding what you need!

HI Sophia - great question. I'd suggest calling into the preferred location and asking them if they hire centrally for all locations of the company or whether each location hires their own staff. If it is centrally _ let them know when you interview that you are flexible on location (swing labor like that might be a great attribute to help you get the job). If it is at each location - sure, apply to both. ITs a numbers game, so the more apps put in (with proper, polite followup) the better the chance of success! hope this helps and good luck! (and thanks for being part of the community) Fred

What type of major insurance company Blue Cross Blue Shield or a neighborhood health plan or something else

Apply at both locations but make sure you have Customer Service specific to the insurance industry..Target the resume to the position and tell them what you cab do for them.good luck:)

Tell them you are available for either sight. It won't sound wishy washy just that you are willing to work where ever they need you Tell them you want to work for this company and you are open for any location. Don't tell them the one you would prefer but let them ask you. I hope you get the job and that this was helpful. Stop worrying so much. Things will turn out fine. If something happens and you don't want the job call upon me , I may have something up my sleeve. Happy hunting. Lisa Renwick

Sophia, I don't want to give you false hope but insurance companies don't normally have call center locations near each other; it's just not cost effective. Make sure that you are actually applying to the company and not a branded broker. There is a major difference in salary and benefits between a company and a broker/agent. Good luck with your search.

With which weapon would you have a better chance of hitting your target? A Rifle? or a shotgun?

Expand your hiring possibilities and file both job applications. Explain that your open to work at any of the two locations if you get a call back for an interview. Good Luck
Hello Sophia, apply at both locations, and let the recruiters know you are a decision maker.
