Question about assistant teaching

How do you assist the teacher without overshadowing him/her or taking too much control? How do you find the right balance?

Talk to the teachers about your expectations, write them down in black and white, orient the teachers when they are new in your Organisation. Give them a few days, maybe a week, just to sit and observe. However, give them time to adapt to the new environment.

If you see that they are totally out of line, send them to the best teacher, just to sit and observe, how things are done at your institution.

At the same time, let them explore their own skills, knowledge and attributes, remember, they have some experience. Complement them when it due....so that they may share their new experiences with you and they will be honest to tell you where they think you must improve.

Allow them to have control while still applying your way and knowledge. Communication is key.
