looking for work with no experience
I am a 43 year old woman who has been a stay at home mom and now that there grown I want to work,I fill applications out and I never here anything and I'm a fast learner but still no response, very frustrating

Tara:
Hang in there! I was a stay at home mother until my youngest child was in all day kindergarten. No one would hire me because I had been out of the workforce too long. I did volunteer and temporary (agency) work to built my resume and update my skills. I was eventually hired by one of the agencies client for a full-time regular job. The rest is career history.

Hi Tara, Welcome to Jobcase! It can definitely be a challenge to find work without experience, but it is possible! Do you have any volunteer experience? That can be great to add to a resume. Also, make sure you are following up with all applications you submit. Call the hiring manager within 1-2 days of submitting them to make sure they received it, and then again 1 week later to see if you are being considered for the job. This will help you to stand out from other applicants and also show them you are willing to take initiative to get things done! I did a quick search in your area for cashier jobs, as I think these might be a good place to start. Check them out here. You can also search for other jobs using these steps: 1.Double click on the “Jobs” tab at the top of the page 2.Enter a job into the search field that says “Position” 3.Click on the blue button to search for that position in your area 4.Once the list is up, click on the title of any you are interested in to apply. Let me know if you need anymore help!
Great advice, Vivienne! I agree with Vivienne - while you are still on the job search, I would suggest volunteering for a local organization. Not only will you be able to pick up new skills, but you might meet another volunteer, who's company may be is looking for new employees! Good luck - and let us know how it goes!
