Assistant Manager at Walmart

I'm not sure where to begin...all employers want you to go through the internet to complete application... upload resume and most don't respond back! I don't care if they give me a....no we're not interested...just some type of communication would be nice. There are a lot of people who age 50+ looking for jobs...we can't retire until 67 so just hiring younger is totally unfair. No way to prove because it's all completed on line (I have my suspicions) because I changed my age and got a response 🤔😉

Debra Bradley: we had the industrial revolution &now the cyber one. Yes, everything has to be done on line. That saves a lot of money for companies. They don't have to have a lot of people in HR. They just contact the people they're interested in. What to do? Target companies that hire older workers and check for their needs and how you are going to help them succeed. I suggest you check AARP for the list of companies. And, create an account in LinkedIn.com. follow people in your field or the company you would like to work for. Some people list job openings and the site also has free classes. Good luck!

I dont think it is because they want people younger or older or whatever. I think it's because the people they put in charge are a bunch of clueless airheads and they don't care about the company needs or anyone else needs . That is the new workforce we are dealing with .

I know people that flat out lied on their applications about way worse than age, things like how many people they managed, etc. and they end up in high paying jobs as a result.

I'm 65 don't look like it I fell like 40, I am a highly qualified and successful sales director. No one will higher me due to my age. Age discrimination is alive and well.

Absolutely, age discrimination is all over. Just turning 50, trying to get a job w/ countless resumes sent for various positions w/ prior experiences; no response most of the time. Finally a job hired by a friend who used to work w/ me know I can easily do the job. 😞 I don’t believe what the media says about labor shortage.

I agree 200% to all your comments. Apply online application is asking the high school graduation year to get applicant age now. I don't know it is legal or not.

I agree they’re using age against the older generations for hiring. I’ve filled out several apps in which I am highly qualified. I am sick and tired of even looking.

Age discrimination happens and it's difficult to prove. It is ironic that employers complain about people not wanting to work when there are so many older job seekers who are still looking for employment.
