Laid off need work

He said I couldn't come back...

Worked for Lowe's for the last 3 years as an assembler. Loved the people and the customers and now my job is just gone. I asked my manager if I could please just come back and work a bit more, but he said it came from corporate and it wasn't up to him. I get it, business is business. He said I couldn't come back no more to do assembly and that's all I know there. I am a single dad and my kids birthday is coming up next month and now I have NO job. I know we will be ok, it's starting over that is hard. What do I do next? Do I do assembly again or try to find a totally different job? Anyone out there?? Please help a dad out.

Sales Associate at Lowes Home

I worked two years part time and was turned down 3 times to go full time, vacations refused 2 years in a row, and with the new Kronus scheduling, I was given only 4 hours a weekend and when thats all they could muster, then I said good bye. I drive rideshare now making 4000 a month rather than 44 a weekend

I would look at both, maybe think of changing a career or stay doing your current work. for about a decade I did retail management but about 5 years ago I went back to college and got an IT degree, been working in IT ever since. I try to use some of the things I did as a retail manager in my current job. so maybe if you find a job that's similar you can still use your experience as an assembler as relative experience

Hello i am so sorry that you had to go through what you are going through. It seemed like your job was limited and what i mean is they needed the help for about 3 years and after your 3 years was up they couldn't or didn't want to re- hire you so they are waiting for the next person to come along and replace you for the next 3 years so that they can do the same too them. It do me great joy MR. MOM smile for a dad too take pride in providing for his children all on his on i truly commend you for being the great dad that you are people like you are rare . And the only thing you can do is what you stated is too start all over again and i know that starting over isn't easy. But i know deep down in my heart that you are going too make it and i do wish you and your family the best and you are living by example and you are the type of man that you want your daughters to be with . So a thousand Kudos to you for being a awesome dad. ITS GOING TO WORK OUT FOR YOU AND GOOD LUCK.

Lowe's laid off their assembler employees. It was in the news last week. The store manager is a jerk. If it was me I would not go back to Lowe's for work. Apply for unemployment and keep looking for another job.

They may have simply didn't like you because you were really good at the job. They may have wanted to hire one of their friends or relatives. Keep trying as eventually something will come your way
