I would have never imagined this

After 10 long months trying to find job I’m in an unbelievable position of having two job offers available for me to choose from today. The first offer is with UPS as a part time delivery driver and the other job is with the US postal service as a rural mail carrier. The rural carrier job is full time (40 hours) and they're expecting a heavy employee retirement cycle within the next two years so I can expect good job security according to the recruiter. UPS is part-time job but can eventually lead to a full-time job if I do well. The starting pay and benefits are about the same except at UPS I’ll be earning less working 30hrs per week right now. I need some advice to help me decide. In your experience, what are the pro’s/con’s on each of these companies and jobs? Thanks in advance for your help.

Take the full time position. You are guaranteed 40 hours. In a part time position, they are not obligated to work you a certain number of hours, which can lead to you getting very few hours . Go for full time!

Luis, full time with the federal government with insurance and benefits is absolutely the best way to go. I'm not sure why you are having a hard time deciding! A bird in the hand is worth a thousand birds in a bush. The words "Eventually" and "may lead to full time" aren't reliable.

Don't discount the benefits, peace of mind, the ability to actually retire with some type of pension. That is REAL....part time sucks..

Go with USPS until you actually get the call from UPS to report to work. I've just gone through this with UPS and I am sitting at home with uniforms and no work.

take my advice USPS is the way to go. You may ever get the opportunity to driver for UPS because they have full time drivers waiting to drive everyday.

There are pros/cons to decisions expectually picking on job over the other. Prayers is important. You all have to make a decision. I would use the negotiation tactic to receive the most pay. I think the ups fulltime will be a better choose in my opinion. Good luck and congrads.

Do not go with UPS. I have heard a lot of negative information about how they treat their customers and there is a big turn around on positions such as pt UPS package handler. You may be ok with a delivery driver job but not as a package handler. Good Luck!
