Opinion please.

Hi, recently I applied to a tutoring job. I got a response back for a phone interview. The recruiter gave a variety of days and times to choose from. I specifically responded back for 10am on Friday. The recruiter emailed back and confirmed the day and time. Friday 10am comes. I am ready. 10:30am foll around and still no call. 11 am comes and still no call. Finally 11:30 hits and the call finally comes. 1 hour and a half after she said she would call. When she did call there was no apology. She only then had me ask only one question. I decided I didn't want to work for a job that treated employees like this. Do you think I made the right decision and ate recruiters usually late like this on phone interviews? Thanks

You didn't give enough information... such as.. did you ask her why she called so late after your appointment time? Perhaps she is in a different time zone even though none of those are on the half hour.. or did she have your time wrong? So if you just made that decision with no questions or explanations given then that was a premature decision I believe.

Clarification first.. then terminate or resolve the differences ...

It depends. It's normal for interviews to be a little late (although in my experience, this is more likely to happen with on-site interviews than phone interviews), but it's rude. It may be a sign that they are disorganized and don't care about your time (and consider - if you were 30 minutes late to an interview and didn't notify them ahead of time, it would be a huge strike against you).

It’s called “on boarding” and yes, you did the right thing because why would you want to work for a company that promotes that type of screening /hiring process. That’s cold-blooded, bro!

Depends on if you were both in the same time zone

To be-honest i feel like you were wrong for the simple fact she didn't call you on pin point. The main thing is is that she did return your call. Like i have explained myself time and time again things aren't going to happen exactly when we want them too how do you know that she wasn't calling others as well its more than you that apply for that position and we can't allow our attitude get in the way of things we must learn patience well at least she didn't call you the next day and then too she could not have returned your call at all and just too have an attitude because she didn't call you point blank others needs a fair chance as well as you do and for you to turn down that position you were wrong before you get mad you need to stop and think because if you don't your attitude is going to cause you too loose out on plenty of good jobs.

AND I DO WISH YOU THE BEST AND GOOD LUCK IN FINDING ANOTHER.

Jerry, People make choices and you made yours. The fact that she called later is not an excuse. She is the one offering you a interview? Sometimes we do not make the best choices. It is best to think things through in the future.

First of all you are a potential employee, it also depends on how bad you need a job. You can always work until a better one comes along. You are trying to get the job not them.

I agree. You made the right choice. If you should ever want to even the playing field, ask the recruiter questions you know they can't answer. Just to verify late, rude and un-informed are not winning combinations.
