Out of work for six years
I have been out of work for six years. I put in about 4 hours a day looking for a job. I would work at it all day, but there are only so many posts for my type of job per day. I also work with a professional job search coach for two hours once a week. I turned 55 years old this year and I think this is what is stopping me from getting a job. My hair turned grey and I think this is making me look older than my age. I would like to hear from people that are over 50 years of age and older or people that have been out of work for a long time. I need to know how you are handling it. Maybe your stories may help me. Thank you.

I hear ya my friend. It can be TOUGH out there. Wow 6 years, it's shocking but not uncommon in today's job market. I am sorry for your struggles. I have heard others talking about that they dyed their hair, but I kept mine with the grays that I have for now. I am considering it pretty soon though. Some people think this helps them to be seen as younger, which it could. My advice is to keep looking and take breaks. Don't let yourself burn out which is easy to have happen. Have you looked for jobs on here too? Have you followed up wth the ones you applied to? Have you looked at any Startup's? They tend to hire people of ALL ages and walks of life.
