I had accepted a job with a company and was given a start date and time, When I went in on the first day, the CEO who hired me told me he was sorry he forgot to cancel me. He then said he would give me a call later and never called. When I called him back he said that the Dr I was hired for would not be starting for a couple more weeks. He would call me when they needed me. I had two job offers at the same time and chose this one because it seemed better out of the two. I called the other one back and they had already offered it to someone else. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
Oh no Kerri!! Did they send you an official letter of hire or anything legally saying you were hired? I am so sorry to hear this, how unprofessional. When he said "cancel" did he mean for that day or that you weren't hired? Although this has never happened to me it did happen to a friend of mine when she went in on her first week at her new job. They simply told her they changed their minds and that was the end of it. Of course she ended up landing a great job that she loved more a few months later, but oh boy was she upset (and rightfully so). I would suggest that you keep looking and know that this was not the one. I know you lost out on that other job, but something else will come along don't worry!! Just stay positive.
Kerri I am so sorry this happened to you. Would it be possible to get an exact date from them? "A couple days" doesn't seem to be working for them and it's not fair for you to keep holding out. I'd hate for you to lose potential employment waiting for them. Fingers crossed something comes through soon.
