Seeking advice
I have over ten years of experience in bookkeeping. I worked for one company doing bookkeeping and payroll for all ten years.. In 2016 I decided to try something different because they didn’t want to give me a raise. I started a new job shortly after that it was in the automotive industry. It was way out of my element but the pay was really good and the benefits was awesome!!! I worked there for almost two years and I quit because I started having health issues. I haven’t worked since June of 2016 and I have been applying for jobs for bookkeeping and accounting payroll since that’s what I have years of experience in but I haven’t had any luck. I have went on several interviews but still no luck. My question is would you all keep looking for a job that you have experience and the education or would you change your whole career path !!
Hi Kahlia, I pivoted careers myself and although it can seem tough at first as long as you can discover what you want to do that is half the battle. You CAN do it! I would research a little more on jobs that use the skills you carried out daily in the job that you had. Also, take a peek at [this article] (https://www.gsb.stanford.edu/insights/five-strategies-making-career-pivot) which will help prepare you for transitioning to a new career if you do decide to go that route. Wishing you the best!
