INTERVIEWS: (No. #3. Mistakes to Avoid) Copies of Resumes.
A MUST READ! (This can change your life.)
TELL ME, WHAT WENT WRONG?
Karen, the receptionist was new on the job, so she did the best she could when she told him on the phone..."Jason, don't worry about it, you don't have to bring extra copies of your resume, I'm sure the board members have a few extra copies on-hand from your online application." "If not, they can make few copies anyway." "I'll see you about 9:15AM, tomorrow, okay?" Thanks!
Folks, one of the biggest mistakes you can make is, NOT having enough copies of your resumes for the board members to review. They will ask you for extra copies just to see, if you're on the ball and well prepared.
Perhaps, if someone missed their early morning coffee, you don't want to be the person on the other side of the table without sugar, sweetener or cream (So-to-speak).
TURNKEY PRINCIPLE: If you know how many people will be on the board, STILL bring five extra copies just in case!
In the illustration below, NOT only did he forget to bring extra copies of his resume, he brought a statistical report hoping to give a brief presentation.
Will you be prepared?

I heard a good point this morning...Overdeliver, overdeliver, overdeliver Thanks to one of the sharks from Shark Tank!

that receptionist set him up

Thanks

Great advice!

Absolutely not agree at all, because when you applied online is different from apply in person on site. When applied online you also have resumes with that process so they can print out or copy as many as they need for their members. As a applicator we dont know how many members of their staff. If they are denied to hire thay person because not prepared for resume enough for their members is ridiculous.

I totally agree with you Ed!! It's better to be prepared than not. I have had companies ask for my resume when they didn't print out a copy and others that didn't. You never know what could happen so bring it all with you so when they ask you won't feel under prepared.
Yes, especially if the manager gets 100s of emails a day...they aren't going to have time to go back and find your resume. Not every company has a human resource dept. Good reminder.
