Its hard with a degree, I would know. Take the McDonald job or floor retail job, make contacts with likeminded individuals and you will start exposing your skills for recognition. Be professional at all times, especially during high stressed moments and deliver results or solutions. But you have to start somewhere, and kind of like "Daryl" said, Restaurants... It may not be glorious but make those contacts fast and make progress.

Hello Shauny, It is very hard to get a job nowadays. I suggest you look into volunteer work while you are looking for a job, you can always learn a new skill and this is something u can add to your resume instead of having a gap in ur unemployment. As for school, you can always go back to school, so there is no hurry

If you are 23, you can get a Pell grant for college! Often this grant is right around what State tuition costs per semester, however, community college will be much cheaper, so you can live off the excess. You will still have to work, but you could easily make it on a part-time minimum wage, especially if you find a communal living situation such as a co-op.
Often times a degree will get you in the door at the kind of office opportunities that get you out of hard labor or fast food, so it's a worthwhile investment in your future, and you should take advantage of the government's financial assistance!

Hi Shauny, I would definitely try and go to school or even the military, they can even help you with tuition. Don't be like me I went in the Navy many years ago and I did not take advantage of their tuition assistance programs. So now I am 52 years old and I went back to school for medical billing and coding and it has been a struggle but I almost done with it. Get your education when you are young . You can do it!

OH yes, go back to school NOW!! don't wait I'm 59 and all of a sudden after 22 years of being an LPN EVERYBODY WANTS A DEGREE! I am now only 3 classes away from my AA and plan on going on !! It is going to be much easier than trying to look for dead end jobs trust me :-)
