Not sure how to calm those nerves
I am going to a job fair in Boston next week and I am happy about it, but I get really nervous, like sick to my stomach can't talk to anyone nervous. How do you get past this?!! I always get nervous at a new job but then I get over it. Job fairs are different. All those people just make my anxiety soar. Anything that works for you guys?

Do the things you would at home to wind down after a long day (well except having a drink, haha). Just stay calm and focus your energy on landing a job.

Everyone gets nervous Andy so don't worry. I would say take a few deep breaths right before you walk over. If the crowd overwhelms you then take a step outside for a few mins and get some air. Make a plan and stick to it. You can do this!
Hi Andy, Being nervous is only natural and is temporary. Don’t over think it. The previous comments by others are good. Keep the main objective in the forefront of your mind. It might help to practice interviewing with a good friend. In the meantime, go over your resume and assemble your thoughts. Keep it simple and think through the facts of your skills and experience while being composed and calm. Have a friend coach you. Breathe slowly. If a friend isn’t available, try practicing in front of a mirror. You can’t anticipate all the questions they will possibly ask and they will most likely have limited time with each candidate. Being a job fair, the environment is typically informal than an office setting. Just be yourself, presentable while being honest, friendly, and adaptable. Showing energy/enthusiasm will help the interviewer formulate a positive opinion. But refrain from disclosing any desperation. You know yourself in what you can accomplish better than anyone else and that is a good thing to know. Try to articulate how your skills and experiences that would be helpful in the position you are vying for. Applying slow breathing techniques will help to slow down your physiology and help you to stay calm sometimes closing one’s eyes momentarily while using the breathing technique will help to clear the mind to focus on the objective. Also thinking about your favorite hobbies and remembering good experiences with friends and family prior to the interviewing will also help to ease and open your mind. Keep yourself hydrated to lower the stress. And try to have some fun while you’re at it. Wishing you the very best and praying for you.
