Interview with A Jobcaser - Robin Harris

At Jobcase.com, we pride ourselves in being the social platform for every aspect of your working life. The members of our community represent a rich diversity of work and life experiences that we all can learn from. Read on to hear the perspective of our featured Jobcaser – Robin Harris (https://www.jobcase.com/p/robin.harris75).

Robin is from Roswell, GA and she spoke to us about how she uses Jobcase to not only try to find a job, but to give advice to people who have been in similar situations as her.

What keeps you coming back to Jobcase? Robin: “I like the interactions. In the job search you become a different part of a bunch of communities and websites - but there is usually no interaction. The fact that there is interaction and a true community is what keeps me coming back. I’m older so I learned a lot of things, and I feel that it’s my duty to help others to help prevent the same mistakes that I made, and to give them advice from my experience. Being able to assist other people is what keeps me coming back”

How is Jobcase helping you in your job search? Robin: “It’s helped me more so in the advice that I’m providing. Up to this point, the biggest benefit and help has been in supplying the right information to people who need it”.

What would be your words of wisdom be to the community? Robin: “The one thing I stress is education. I didn’t realize how important is was - my mom ended high school in 10th grade. [My] goal was to finish school. There was no push after that. Education is key. People think about it as a cost, but don’t always see the benefit. Education is so important on so many levels. It makes you more open to life and possibility. It changes the way you think. Education is number one for me. All my kids have degrees or are in school, and I’m teaching that to my grandchildren.”

“I also like to tell people to take the time to think about who they are, and envision themselves in their future. To really find out who they want to become and then go from there. Anything that starts has an end. Everything works itself out; you just have to have faith in the process.”

What’s one takeaway that you get from the community, that you hope everyone is able to see? Robin: “Our futures are our responsibility. We can’t blame other people or situations for it. If we want a specific outcome we have to be able to put in the work.”

Anything else you would like to add? Robin: "It’s so important to find the right direction. Instead of studying on your fears, you can listen to people to who were in your situation - listening to them give you advice. I take it as my duty to guide people to their own awareness, because it’s only through their self awareness they are able to find their future.”
