I am so glad you started this group. People just don't understand the impact mental health has on every part of one's life. Lately, since COVID, mental illness is rampant, as are suicides. Oh, you won't hear about this on the news as "they" want to keep everyone uninformed and as stupid as ever. It's a disgrace and I am so glad people like us are talking about this in forums like this.

I've struggled with depression, anxiety, and ADD for many years. I thought since I work from home my life hadn't really changed as a result of COVID. Yet, one day I woke up and thought things are not okay. I am not okay. I'm not sure exactly why and think it's a combination of things but at least there are places I can post and talk to others.

I am looking To find employment in the mental health field as an advocate or peer supporter. I want to to give hope to those who are suffering and are looking for answers. In 2008 I became mentally ill with depression, suicide attempts, and many hospitalizations. It was a long battle for me at first I wasn't responding to any medications. Finally the doctors said the last resort was ECT'S and I received 32 ECT treatments and started to respond to medication. It also wiped away my memory. Long story short I have not been hospitalized since 2011 and I seek therapy regularly and also have my medication monitored on a regular basis. I have so much to give back to the mental health community. I would live a chance to others and give them hope.
