How can I overcome the "previous experience" question during an interview if I'm applying for a job in a totally different industry.
I've been driving for local limo and transportation companies for almost 10 years but I'm looking to get into a culinary arts or line cook job. I enjoy cooking on mostly on my spare time so it’s been kind of a hobby for years but now I'd like to give it a try as a career. I friend recently referred me to her Chef and he wanst to meet me this week but I have absolutely no previous cooking or restaurant experience on my resume. I'm looking for suggestions on how I can sell overcome that line of questioning make this Chef understand that I can take the "Heat in the Kitchen"!

Hi Donald, Thanks for sharing. Just because your cooking experience was in your spare time doesn't make it less valuable. Talk about times you cooked for people, your favorite dishes, and your failed creations. If there are examples of times you felt the "heat in the kitchen" or lead a team of your friends/family cooking, share them! Good luck and we're rooting for you.
