Waiting Time to Hear From Potential Employer
I was told Tuesday afternoon after 5 interviews that I'd hear back by the EOW. I thought the interviews went great but the very last one was a bit strange in that they are hiring for multiple roles. In the last interview they mentioned which one they thought I would be good for. Then asked me about two different ones. I told them I'd lean towards the other but be excited in either. I also followed up with an email letting them know I'd be excited in either one which I would be. It's now late Thursday and I've heard nothing!!!! Would you take this to mean I didn't make the cut or does it usually take a few days to make offers? My fear is they've made offers and just waiting to see if they've been accepted before reaching out to me? Am I misreading that??

I am sorry to know that managers… or companies, for that matter, find it an acceptable practice to keep applicants waiting for an answer. I find this heinous and totally unacceptable. Why do they have to demonstrate their “power” in this manner? There is no need for it. What does it take to say, “ I am sorry but we found a more suitable candidate?” That takes integrity, honesty and credibility. Am I to surmise that the people who run companies are so totally lacking in ethics? As to your question, I’d say you were left hanging on a thin thread of hope, but the company won’t give you a safety net. You have to save yourself. Keep your self-respect, and find another spot. This is easier saud than done because you felt good about the interview. Hold your head high and don’t let this experience leave a sour taste in your mouth. We have to start indicting companies that keep decisions in the balance without any intention of letting hopeful applicants the decisions arrived at by the company!

If they haven't called you in like a week and a half and I consider it a no-go yeah don't call them too much it may sound like oh I'm eager to this but it also could really make them mad cuz my dad was a manager so he he hated the eager beavers he called them because they're really annoying and he imagined them at work.

If they don’t make an offer move on
I interviewed with a local company and have been lied to twice about the proverbial " we'll get back with you shortly" bit. First time was after the interview the HR person said; " We're going to be off the next week for Thanksgiving, but we'll give you a call the following week when we come back". Heard nothing but crickets that entire week. So I did call them back the Thursday of that week afterwards. Same HR lady claims she'll call me that following Friday. They were actually closed that day. Very unprofessional to say nothing of inconsiderate.
