I am needing some suggestions... I applied to a new position had a great over the phone interview. Then a week went by and on the following Friday 07/12 they emailed me and asked if i could make an in person interview for Monday 07/15. I travel full time for work and was scheduled to be in Seattle that Monday morning, but i asked them to have me fly in Sunday and meet with them Monday morning. They accepted and flew me to New Jersey from Colorado for the interview. I spoke to the recruiter that evening on my layover to Seattle. She then called me a week later and wanted to talk about the interview and moving forward with the position. I missed her call by 30 mins and called her back, to have it go to voicemail. I have now been calling and leaving voicemails to no avail. and including emails. Do I continue to call and email to try to hear back from them? Or is that going to make me seem desperate. They also were going to reimburse me for the travel expenses for the interview.

If I was you at this point I'd call it a washout ..... They found someone that could fill the position better (I'm Guessing) and they moved on, now maybe, Just maybe you should as well....

You said they “flew you” but, you are seeking reimbursement. Did you find out what the requirements were to be reimbursed? I think you might have been had...it has been over a month. Also, never seem desperate. Things happen for a reason, you might need to take the expense loss.

Something's not kosher. If they flew you that distance, they were interested. You blew the time frame, which is a deal breaker. If you can't keep an appointment before you're hired, how can you be expected to perform on the job? Another wrinkle is the fair employment requirement. If they gave you every opportunity, and you didn't show up on time, they're free to hire their fair haired boy locally. Get on with your search - If they're interested, they['lll get backd to you.

Sorry to hear what hand you were dealt in this situation. Most people that do the interviewing have very little patience when someone missed their call at a time you both agreed to. But since they are holding the job card,if this was switched and she just didn't call you at all she will just apologize because she got busy. But you are not allowed to miss a phone call! I wouldn't have paid for the travel when they agreed to pay for it. You were trusting! Now you appear to be out of that job and money. When you missed the call you got judged by her that's how you operate. Not dependable! Although that's not true. I don't think you are.Life happens.. Chalk this as an experience to not do again! Looking for a job is real stressful and frustrating! But they hold the cards. Sorry....Keep plugging. Maybe when you missed the call you opened up the opportunity for the next candidate. That's what it appears like anyway. Keep it moving.... Good luck in the future. You will get another chance

I would suggest leaving a message, preferably email, that says exactly what you said here. I really want this position, you do owe me for travel and most importantly your sorry you missed the call. Leave it with you dont want to bother them but dont want to pass up an opportunity. Please let you know yes or no so you can move forward. Idk. That's how I would handle it. If you hear nothing assume the worst.

Recall that many people are on vacation and no one is returning their calls while they are away

I think that ship may have sailed, I wouldn't try to contact them again. Just be blessed and forget about them
