Listing Promotions

How can I update my resume to show promotions from previous jobs. Should I include that in a separate section?

Hello Gabriella, Great question! You should always update your resume to reflect your achievements in your positions as it shows the employer your determination and great work ethic! Here are two examples for you:

  • You can list your promotion as a separate position under the same company. The employer can see that you worked and grew with the same company over some time.

Example: Hard Rock Hotel Housekeeping Supervisor May 2012- July 2015

Hard Rock Hotel Housekeeper May 2011-May 2012

  • When listing your different positions- you can include your "Responsibilities" AND your "Achievements". Under achievements you can list any awards, promotions, or special projects you worked on in that role.
