I have thirteen years of teaching experience. I have a Master’s degree in Education and one in English. I needed to tend to the health issues of my son, and I left my career. The administration had gotten real bad, and I knew I was not going to return after the summer. That was two years ago. Now, I have taken on positions of a long term sub. The long term sub position was allegedly a stepping stone to a full time position, yet it never matriculated. Now, after two years out of the education field, I am not even getting calls for interviews. The only interviews I am getting is for sales positions. I can not afford to take a gamble on 100% commission based income for me, and my family. I feel lost.

If your teaching degree is not in a critical field, the jobs just aren't there.

If the issue with your child's health is resolved and you can travel go to Japan, S. Korea or China to teach English. You will get paid mega bucks. They only require that you speak English not the mative language of the country you are in.

It's probably the number of years. I have 20 years moved states and only 1 school out of 6 entire districts called me. I was told I have too many years for them to pay for. I took the 1 call and was hired at base first year rate.

Get an education lawyer, there are certain statues in which you may seek redress. Find out the cost and check if you’re blacklisted. Good luck David.

Hello David, I do not know where you live but have you tried scoring a teaching position at the community college level or the tech colleges? I know in the Seattle area there are several. I know when searching for positions, we sometimes get focused on one area and forget about other possible branches.

Are you aware of Family leave, it's the law and not much an employer can do if you use it. I would talk to your Union if you have one and perhaps someone in human resources. If you really feel that you were rail roaded then contact your EEOC (federal level) you have 300 days from you incident

Hi David, Why not try online tutoring. There are some great jobs available. They offer the flexibility you are working for. Maybe this will help. Sincerely, Lori

Hey Stevie, With your education and years of experience, I would look for a college professorship!!!

You could look into K12 online, or adjunct teacher for a technical college. I am an ESL teacher without VIPKID which is commission based but I have never had an issue with bookings. With your credentials you should come in at a higher rate than I am. You can message me individually if you want more information. I would be happy to help. If not, you are qualified to work as an adjunct professor for most technical schools and they pay well usually. Best wishes.
Why not try working as an online teacher. There is a need for teachers for the online K-12 as well as online college classes.
