Great Keaona! Moving on up huh? Not only will you be "just" giving people their food, it's the overall experience they will have while you are doing it. Bring your smile, your charm, your witty personality, your wisdom, and even telling them "these were made extra crispy just for you" banter because we all like to feel individually special and taken care of. :)

I'm a techie. I always think of an 'unboxing' experience. To give you an example: Samsung and iPhone puts effort into the package of their devices. It's not only about the device itself, but how you feel "unboxing" the device. There is a department that psychologically specializes in this. You get your phone in the box: there is a clever design on the front, how its wrapped, the way you open the box, the placement of the phone and its accessories, how clean the phone is; every piece has its place ... that overall good "feeling" you get when you take the phone out and feel all giddy that you can't wait to use it. :)

Take this example and put it into your serving attributes. To some, it might be just ole fried chicken and sauce, ordered time after time. But most will remember the person who serves it to them. I speak of experience of camping at over 50 places across the US in the past ten years. I remember some of the foods, but I REALLY remember the employees of the places who left such a good impression on me. It compelled me to show my appreciation to write / fill out those feedback cards with my good experience or send in a letter so the supervisor/manager can give that server a 'high-five' for excellence. Not only does it feel good to be catered to in a good way by an employee of a restaurant, but also that good feeling of when it is acknowledged written in words, or a gracious "Thank you!" It makes for good impressions on your customers, your supervisors/managers and will rub off on fellow coworkers.

That's Great News @KeaonaBrown, Congrats! Was being a Server your original goal when you applied for the job? I think that a real good way to transition. When do you start?
