False placing item on work schedules
Me and my dad works at the same company and we requested vacation 4 months in advance. We continued to ask management they eventually said it was approved. We took the vacation but when we returned The had me as a no call no show violation on the 1st day of vacation and my father 's time they had him listed as flna in which he has to call each day he uses the flma. He got that changed and theyreplaced it with general absent for 3 days but again he never called in during the vacation. But my no call no show would not be changed. Several attempts were made my me to get management to correct it. But they would not so I resigned due to unfair treatment and filed unemployment that was denied duecto the fact that my company stated that I was given a document stating that that day I'if vacation was not approved. But I have been at this job for 2 years and work with 250 associates in a call center no no body ever received any paper work regarding approved or denied vacation days. Since my father caught them using flma benefits elegal. They changed it to absent with no recourse to him. But isn't that unfair treatment toward me and my dad my dad still works for the company with 3 Charged general absents that he did not call in to request.

There has to be documentation somewhere and did you dispute the unemployment claim I would call the labor department

I never had anything like that happen to me or anyone I know. I am sorry you both were mis handled by the company. From what you stated I feel you did what was expected of you to do. Its too bad they did not provide a signed approval for you and your father to go on vacation. But they didn't, so you have to wonder why they as a company don't sign off on vacation request. As far as you quitting, that is on you. You only get unemployment if your laid off. Hopefully you'll find work soon and then get treated right. The world is changing not necessarily for the good. If you didn't quit you might of had a case you could have fought back. But you threw in the towel to soon.

When management operates negligently, congratulate yourself that you do ot work for/with them. Life is too short.

You both took the time off and they did you both wrong. You both should of signed a request for vacation form,if they did and they don't have it filed then the office messed up ,but Spence u quit u can't do anything ,but dad can.

I don't think you should have quit--you kind of jumped the gun if everything is as you've stated. However, it if is the way you've stated, you should file a complaint with the Dept of Labor so they can investigate.
Also, I hope there was a lesson learned here. You have to look out for yourself regardless of what your co-workers tell you or what their experience has been. Because when it comes down to it, if something happens or changes and you never asked who you should be asking, it is you who will be paying for it. You should have gone to HR and insisted on something in writing approving your time off. Basically, if you can't prove it, it didn't happen.

Maybe , computer automation were asleep.Sorry it went down that way.

James, You have to have documentation that vacation is approved. Unfortunately, the HR must have record of it so it would be a No call no show. Did you have proof? Without this no course for action on the company’s part that they violated any rules . As for FLMA, documentation is required.

Report them to the government
James Keeling. That situation sounds a little sketchy. I would check with the Labor Department about the employment practices at the company and make sure you have an Employee Handbook that may spell out some of the terms of calling in procedures. This will assist you if you decide to pursue any legal means. I pray that you get closure from this. Dont let it get you down. Be Blessed and Highly Favored.
