My opinion

I'm not a truck driver, but my husband is. I've been on the road with him for many years. I've been a driver manager, manager, dispatcher in trucking. By comments I've seen about some of your dispatchers. Sounds like your company needs to retrain them or the driver needs a new job. Dispatchers are not perfect, but your not their only driver. I've never had issues with my drivers when I dispatched because I gave my driver's respect and they gave me respect. My saying is" you get more with honey than you do with vinegar". My driver's are my family. Stay safe. Thank you for all your miles.

Anything can be fixed

Worked as a dock worker, driver, mechanic, shop supervisor and dispatcher in a limited fashion. The main reason drivers get mad at dispatchers is the companies desire to micromanage both positions in that context. Its easier to blame the person in front of you. Same with dispatchers to drivers, the dispatchers have the expectation the company is pushing on them to have the drivers to cary out. The trucking industry in the last 25 years is not the joy it once was. Its goverment regulation federal, state, local, on the company, then all on the employee then the regulations on the employee by the company. Its a stress on everyone as every aspect is regulated for a specific outcome that tends to be unatainable. As a supervisor there was alot of conflict with the conduct of the company for unlawful conduct with employees as to regulate the employees perfomance from corprate. This guys job became babysitting as they regulated too much reducing effeciency to less than half in production. They created a system in which employees figured out in a couple days how to create working vacation days. They forbid my person to squash that aspect in the facility. Then useing goverment regulations to garner extra paid vacation, they both combined destroyed the trucking industry and made the people miserable.

I have found, in the 15 years I have been doing this, that a lot of issues can be avoided by never allowing dispatch to be the driver manager. Dispatchers are the main lifeline for drivers. But they ARE there to support the driver.
