Future Planning
I’m a stay at home mother of two boys ages 3 and 5. My goal is to have a degree within the next 2-3 years so I can be a better provider for my children once they start attending school regularly and I'm able to go back to work full time. All of my previous work experience is in retail but I don’t want to go back to that line of work. I’m trying to be as realistic as possible considering my time and financial limitations. What’s are some the best paying careers I can get without a four year degree?

Hi Veronica: You're in luck - you have plenty of time to build up some seriously awesome skills that are in high demand right now. There are a ton of online courses you can take to build up any skill set you want. Want to be a graphic designer? How about a business writer? Or maybe you've always wanted to be a real estate agent? The point here is that you should be thinking about skills, not necessarily degrees - a lot of times, employers want to know what you can do, rather than where you went to school. Hope this advice helps!
Veronica: don't just follow the money. Obviously you want to make enough to support your family, but you spend 1/3 of your life at work. The days are long and ghastly if you don't also like what you do. And then they come home with you too. Look at both money and genuine interest as equal requirements for job satisfaction. Work with the college career counselor to discover your hidden skills and interests. You'll find some amazing things once you work with someone to help with the digging.
