You always let your Manager know in advance that you need to see a Doctor then Follow up with a note to HR

Be careful with that because the doctors note must say that you could not work If it doesn’t say that then they had a right to fire you

If you had a doctors note I would go to the Human Relations board in your state. Or labor relations.

What was your job? If you are able to do your job, and you don't show up, the company needs to find a person to do work. If you're dealing with a serious illness, they can hire somebody temporarily. Once they hire someone, they need to keep that person - unless he or she gets fired. They cannot fire him or her just like you, without proper cause. Unfortunately, too many absences can be grounds - for termination. Remember the company's greatest asset is people. Someone needs to be there, you should've planned the absences with your manager or human resources.

So sorry this happened to you, you did get screwed, the truth I think you will find is you were there for 20 yrs so you were out dated they'll want some one younger and cheaper to hire. It's age discrimination I bet. Take care hun, this is getting to be a habit with jobs. Good luck
