Why did you leave this job?

I recently quit my last job because I just hated it. I was stressed, not sleeping and just absolutely dreaded going. How do I answer "why did you leave" on applications?

Hey Paula, Sorry you had such a tough time of it in the last gig. I think the answer to your question is best left with "not a good cultural fit for one another" . I would be careful to discuss it in such a manner to not be overly critical, but to strive to describe the things in that culture that you think were not consistent to the environment that you think would allow you to provide maximum value and be most productive. I think if you discuss it in terms of the value you are trying to bring to an employer and realizing that that paritulcar culture was impeding that - that it could b well received. hope this helps. Overall - the less said the better, Good interviews will focus more on what you are looking for and what you can offer. If it does come up, suggest you try very hard to bring that part of conversation to quick conclusion and bring conversation back to the current role you are interviewing for and how you can bring value to that new organization.

Hope this helps - thanks for good question and being part of the community! Fred
