Am I stuck?

I have my CDL license, but I'm fresh out of school - aka no driving experience. Do trucking companies like CRST consider applicants like me?

Right out of school can be good with a company which gives the right person to guide you. CRST does hire new drivers and so do many larger companies....

Many companies hire new graduates. Pick wisely. Some pay trainee pay well some dont. Averitt pays well and a few others. Apply and find out what the pay is and if any sign on bonuses are.

Pick the best options from who responds and go from there. Most with sign on bonuses you need to stay a year many pay tuition but the hook is you must stay a min of one year.

I have 5 years driving experience but none of it current in last 3 years. Have talked with at least 20 companies, and they all require current experience in last 3 years. Don't be miss led.

I do understand however since you have your CDL you are very marketable in the Transportation Industry. You can be employed anywhere especially the Airports. They are great for hiring drivers fresh out of Commercial Driving School. Try and negotiate your salary so you can obtain the best rate possible. I hope this information helps you and wish you all the best.

They would however you may have to train in another State with them for several weeks. Also, if you want to get Driving experience the Airports are always hiring drivers. They will hire recent graduates right out of school.

I don't think you're out of luck but like any job where you are the newbie, you may get the worst routes. I don't know where you are but most drivers hate the northeast and that's where the new guys get sent. My brother got a route where he drove between Colorado and North Dakota, he did not like that because he only got to come home maybe once in 6 months. My father was lucky enough to get a local route where he got to come home every night. Good luck to you!
