Aircraft Maintenance Technician at Contractor

Its of fundumental/absolute necessity for all airmen to comply with regulations that are usually well researched engineering prerequisites Or prototype limitations, such approach saves life and creates the much needed public confidence to aviation. Such a professional approach, integrity, compliance to regulations usually emphasize safety for both employees and the flying public. Greed and profit seem to the biggest enemy of doing the right thing when nobody is watching. Ignorance can't be used as an excuse for accidents caused by non compliance. Whoever says we have to cut regulations to attract investments is proof of selfiness thus usually goes with ignorance, pride and foolishness. To some of us who've been around for a minute, we know that most rules, regulations and laws in aviation or any industry for that matter, come into being after a catastrophic events that usually demand practical solutions. I urge all to research their industrial procedures and history before challenging their existence. To advance in one career or discipline, one should understand its origin, appreciate its evolution and most importantly your contribution to ensure its survival and advancement.

Greed and profits have changed the integrity and morals of today’s airman. It has become a trade of deceit and dishonesty. Even in the manufacturing area like Gulfstream and Emberaer Boeing subcontracts out work to shades company’s like Triump. Aviation has gone down hill

Omg you don't want to know how bad the oil and gas industry is. I see a person no following multiple policies and or procedures and when i speak to supervision about it they turn it around on me. The person committing the act gets nothing and i get in trouble. That's how bad it is everywhere around here. Ohh and im not talking about put your safety glasses on deal. Im talking bout people lose jobs over this stuff.

All employees regardless where you work should comply with all polices and regulatiins. They are in place for safety and liability reasons.A person should always do the right thing weather your boss is following you around or if u alone working. This is great, honest character in a person.

Manufacturing Manager at Anonymous

In a past job I couldn’t get upper management to abide by rules and regulations for not only their safety but the safety of everyone. The more I made my point the more they ignored it. Finally someone was hurt pretty badly which in turn became my problem. I felt as though I put forth a valiant effort to have everyone adhere to rules and regulations. Ultimately I couldn’t take it anymore!!

Please discuss an example.

As a somewhat-counter example, when I worked at Martin Marietta they used the MGC onboard computer for their Titan rocket launches. It was very antiquated, but it had gone through all the testing and was approved, and nobody wanted to spend money getting an upgraded computer approved. They finally had to when the last worker who could construct core-memory announced his retirement.

As another somewhat-counter example, several years ago Brazilian air traffic controllers put two airplanes on the same flight path, going in opposite directions. Sort of like the Addams family model train set that always ends in a smash-up. These two airplanes struck each other, never saw the other. One crashed. The other was very lucky to just barely find an airfield for an emergency landing. Last I heard, instead of a rule, pilots informally adopted the convention of flying slightly to the right of the official flight path.
